the only case that i would play with a 1H CB and a shield is the case that the combination of the shield+1H CB would give more dmg than the combination of 2 1Hs CBs or 2H bow/CB+ quiver or 1H CB + quiver. so my opionion is that if you got a 2H bow and a good quiver or 2 1H hand crossbows is better than having a shield as an off-hand. so my opinion is that if you try to maximize your survivability as DH, not only by getting a shield but getting most of your items with a high value of Vitality and not dexterity, you lose a huge amount of damage, that you need, and your playing a class that is ment to be a "glass cannon". a shield might protect you for 1-2 hits due to block chance, but as you play DH u know that if a mob is on you and u are out of dicipline you are prolly dead except if the mob is low on life, even if you got a shield or not(i tried it). normal hits from mobs on inferno are like 40k minimum to a dps like DH, wizard, WD and barb in DPS spec. Right now on AH, the max +crit damage you can get on gloves is 24% and you can get 30% on each ring or amulet. As far as i can see from inferno difficulty that i am atm, IF any mob gets agro on you, you are dead in 1 hit. That's a rough example since you can get 1h xbows with awesome mods like 15+ atk.speed / 150+ vit/ 50+ crit damage / socket (40+ crit damage from emerald), and the difference of dex/vit will be unsignificant Well, I think the main issue is that a shield on your off-hand restricts the weapon you use on your main hand to a hand crossbow, as opposed a quiver on your off-hand which lets you use two handed bows as your main weapon. no problemīut if Char B wants to get 90% crit damage, he has to get it on gloves, amulet, or rings which is much more uncommon. Now if Char A wants to get 80dex and 80 vit, he can get it everywhere, helm, bracers, gloves, belts, boots etc. Monk: None, though Monks can dual wield most one-handed weapons, including Fist weapons. Demon Hunter: Quivers can be equipped with any type of bow or xbow. All classes can equip a shield in that slot, and some classes can dual-wield one-handed weapons. Total = 90% crit damage, 30 ias, 80 dex, 80 vit. Off-hand refers to non-weapons equipped in second weapon slot. I gave it to scoundrel and it raised his current dmg for 160, greatly overcame mine (his dmg was slightly lower than mine). The bows came in a pair, and looked something like you see in the paperdoll mock-up to the right. 2-hand crossbow vs 1-hand crossbow (+quiver) it has 20 less dexterity but higher arcane damage by about 150 (min and max). As a Demon Hunter i have bow and quiver, found 2H crossbow with 200 more DPS than my current bow (1500 to 1700DPS), yet the comparison shows that i would go down 4 on damage if i equip it. total = 180% crit damage and 30% atk speedĬhar B has a 1h or 2h xbow with 90% crit damage, 15 atk.speed and a quiver with +80dex / +80 vit / 15ias. At Blizzcon 2010, hand xbows could onlybe dual wielded. If you lack dex/vit, you can always get it on another piece of gear, but +Crit damage is mostly on weapons, something that you won't find easilyĬhar A has 2* 1h xbows with 90% crit damage and 15 atk.speed on each. Note that +Crit damage spawns only on gloves/amulet/rings/weapons whereas dex/vit spawns anywhere else. What i'm saying is that you can't get the mod "X% critical damage" on quivers and socketing an emerald on a quiver will add 30+ dex since its considered as "others". Yes, most mobs on act1 hits for 15k (i have 2000 armor), i'm currently act2 and those little mosquitoes hit for 33k, so maybe i'll get one shotted on later stages and sacrificing dex for vit won't be efficient, but right now it has saved me a couple of times (especially for butcher) When I was 14 I thought I wasnt doing a lot, but now I am a very happy demon hunter. And tbh, the skills between level 14 and 22 really help out in damage. Everything Ive read so far claims its better in damage out put than a bow and quiver. Last updated at 14:00:17 UTC Weekly Help Desk RAGE Loot Thread Trade Thread I am level 22, dual wielding one handed bows.
